The Most Faithful Friend

Psalm 42:8

How often do we feel abandoned by friends and family, those we thought we could trust? How many times are we betrayed by those closest to us? It hurts doesn't it?

Jesus had been there too. When he was taken to be crucified, when he needed his disciples most, they all fled. But Jesus wasn't put off by this, He didn't go in a huff, He knew the human weakness - sin. He depended on God for His strength and this is an example we should follow.

God is with us always, He will always protect us. He loves us even when we turn away, He keeps His promises even when we don't keep ours, He cherishes us even when we doubt Him. The Psalmist understood this and it gave him peace and freedom.

The Psalmists peace and freedom is also from his surrender. He describes God as "the God of my life." He had "let go and let God" because He knew that God had his best interests at heart and that God is the most faithful friend of all. Even when we are faithless.

My challenge to you today is to stop looking to the people in your life for strength and look to God. To throw yourself into His arms and feel His love. To surrender to Him and let Him take over. For practical advise on this please visit my previous post "Looking to God"
